Today, we’re deep-diving into goal-setting — how to prepare to set your goals, breaking down those goals, and keeping up with the bar you set. Goal-setting is a process that can be broken down, so let’s get granular and make sure each quarter ends with a celebration.

Goal-setting is a process that can be broken down.

First, look at your last quarter’s goals: what worked, what didn’t, and what couldn’t you fit into the previous quarter? Then, repeat the process for your annual goals. Make a list of the goals that didn’t make it, no matter how long, because it’s essential to be clear on your objectives!

Once you have your list of goals, it’s important to be realistic. Look ahead to your upcoming months and plan for everything, including the time you’re not working. Overwhelm happens when you overbook yourself and your goals aren’t realistically achievable. We’re our own worst enemy–we’ll only focus on the things we didn’t accomplish. Therefore, it’s vital that we evaluate how much time each goal will take. That way, you can wrap up your quarter with a celebration of everything you did accomplish!

Keep track of your goals and the pathway to them on a digital calendar like Google Calendar or on paper. Get granular, down to the week and day. Schedule your time with care to avoid future overwhelm.
